This Allen's Hummingbird was banded by Sumita Prassad on December 11, 2004 at a
private residence in Hay's County near Driftwood, TX.  Thanks to Sumita for inviting
me along!

Though there have been possible sightings of Allen's Hummingbird in Central Texas,
none of these sightings has been sufficiently documented in order to be accepted as
the area's first record.

Also of huge interest was the first Allen's Hummingbird record for Travis County during
the first week of March 2005.  This bird was also banded by Sumita.

We always suspected Allen's Hummingbird visited central Texas during the winter.
Sumita's banding proved to be what we needed to get us over the hump.
